Where will in-demand Semenyo end up?

Man Utd have pulled clear of their competition and are now favourites to sign Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, reports suggest.

Man City are also keeping close tabs on developments with the 25-year-old, while Tottenham are one of several other clubs interested.

Earlier this week Your Site News reported that some insiders believe City are the strongest contenders for his signature.

United are considered serious rivals for both City and Spurs, with Liverpool believed to still be in the background.

Guardiola insists he wants to stay at Man City amid reports about his future

Pep Guardiola insists he is far from finished at Manchester City.

Reports have emerged suggesting City have started making contingency plans in case their long-serving manager decides to end his trophy-laden tenure at the Etihad Stadium next summer.

There have even been rumours that Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, a former member of Guardiolas backroom staff, has been identified as a potential successor but the City boss has no desire to move on yet.

The Spaniard, who is in his 10th season at City and is contracted until 2027, feels he still has much to achieve and is enjoying rebuilding the team after an underwhelming 2024-25 campaign.

Guardiola, whose successes with City include six Premier League titles and the Champions League, says his future will be determined by his performance.

He said: Im happy here, I want to stay here. What can I say? Always results decide.

When it is the (end of the) chapter the club will choose the best one to continue this incredible period in Man City.

There have been rumours in the last years many, many times but I want to stay here. At the end of the season, well see.

Im excited because there is a margin to improve, to do it better. That is what I like.

Last season was a really, really tough season and I didnt give up and I was there. This season is much better in terms of many things Im seeing and still Im here.

It depends on my feelings and my feeling right now is good. Thats why I want to continue.

Its going to change? Maybe, I dont know. But what Im feeling now is not (that). What Im feeling now is with the players I want to continue as much, and as long, as possible.

Arteta determined to earn the right to sign Arsenal contract extension

Mikel Arteta can envisage life at Arsenal beyond his current 18-month deal but has insisted he must earn the right to get another contract extension.

Arteta will celebrate his six-year anniversary on Saturday when Premier League leaders Arsenal travel to Everton.

The 43-year-old has overseen a huge cultural shift at Emirates Stadium and taken the club from mid-table into regular title challengers but, with his current terms set to expire in the summer of 2027, Arteta was quizzed about his future.

Asked if he could stay beyond his 18-month contract, Arteta said: Yes, but it is about today and a lot of things have to happen in the next few months, as well, to earn the right.

I think the manager has to earn the right to be here tomorrow. That is how you react, how you talk here, how you go in the dressing room, the message that you send, how much the players follow you.

I always said that you need support. I said it before, from the ownership and the board, its great. At the end, the most important one is those players. You open that door, you confront them, you talk to them.

And for six years, I have seen just players with a level of attention and desire to learn, and give the maximum to the team. That is what keeps me in this job. Nothing else and obviously, winning a lot of football matches that, percentage-wise, I think is quite high.

That is the only way. If not, you cannot survive in this environment.

Arteta did acknowledge, though, that he would be unable to give players guarantees if they were to question him about his future ahead of their own contract talks, with Bukayo Sakas deal set to expire in 18 months time.

They do ask me but I can not lie to them. I dont know, it is something that does not depend on me, Arteta reflected.

Are you really happy here? Do you feel that you have the energy and you feel you can take this club? Yes. One hundred per cent, yes. But I think it does not depend only on me.

Frank happy with Johnson despite lack of minutes

Brennan Johnson could again be consigned to a place on the bench when Liverpool visit Spurs on Saturday.

Johnsons lack of game time has sparked rumours a January move could be on the cards and even though Frank implied he would like to keep last seasons leading scorer, the Wales international has been an unused substitute in two of the last four league games.

Asked if he wanted Johnson to stay, Frank said: Yeah, I think we will be playing a lot of games, so its important to have enough to shoot with.

Overall Im happy with Brennan. He trained well (Friday). We mentioned before that he has played some very good games on the right and (Mohammed) Kudus has come in, so thats been a little bit of bigger competition there. Not that he cant play to the left.

Im happy with Brennan. Im happy with everyone in the squad. Its just I can only play 11 unfortunately.
