Bournemouth targeting three areas to strengthen in January

Latest from Mark McAdam and Kaveh Solhekol:

Bournemouth are plotting more transfer business ahead of the January window as they look to improve Andoni Iraolas squad.

The south-coast club had the best net spend in the Premier League this summer, selling key players to Real Madrid, PSG and Liverpool as well as making seven new signings themselves.

While the hierarchy at the club are happy with their recruitment and evolution of the team they want to add more to the group with a goalkeeper, winger and central defender all being targeted for January. Thats if the right players become available.

Last seasons goalkeeper Kepa was replaced by Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea, but this is a position they want to recruit for again if possible, with someone that can challenge Petrovic to be the Bournemouth No 1.

A centre-back with height and presence is on their recruitment list as is a winger.

Theyre fully aware of the links surrounding star-man Antoine Semenyo, with a host of sides queuing up to take the Ghana international, who has a release clause understood to be around 60m.

They know replacing him like-for-like will be near impossible but they have a number of options theyre targeting for the winter window and the summer.

January can be a tricky month to do business, but there can be deals to be done, particularly for a club like Bournemouth that like to target younger players who have huge potential.

The Cherries have gone seven Premier League games without a win and have slipped down from 2nd to 13th.

Crystal Palace actively seeking new RWB after Munoz injury

Latest from Your Site News' James Savundra:

Crystal Palace are now actively looking in the January market for new right wing-back options in the wake of Daniel Munozs injury.

The Colombian requires surgery on a knee problem - and he could be out for an extended period as he recovers.

Second-choice to Munoz is the experienced Nathaniel Clyne - but he is now 34 and out of contract at the end of the season.

They also have 19-year-old Rio Cardines, who made his senior debut in the Conference League this season, but remains relatively inexperienced.

Palace are therefore doing due diligence on potential options and considering whether to make a signing in the position when the transfer window reopens next month.

Munoz, 29, is himself being tracked by a number of top clubs due to his outstanding performances for Palace under Oliver Glasner.

Munoz is under contract at Palace until 2028 with the option to extend that until 2029 also existing in that deal.

Fernandes reveals hurt at Man Utd for club wanting him to take Saudi offer

Newcastle's Harrison attracting interest

Two Championship clubs are interested in Newcastle midfielder Alfie Harrison

The 20-year-old joined the club in February 2024 from Manchester City but has so far only featured for the U21 side.

His contract expires in the summer.

Kilmarnock sign left-back Schjonning-Larsen

Kilmarnock have signed left-back Michael Schjonning-Larsen.

The 24-year-old will arrive from Estonian top-flight side FCI Levadia Tallinn and is eligible to play from January 1.

He has agreed a deal until May 2027 at Rugby Park, just one day after the club sacked manager Stuart Kettlewell following a 10-game winless run.

Killie are 11th in the Scottish Premiership, just three points ahead of bottom-side Livingston, who have a game in hand.

Al Hilal not guaranteed to make another move for Fernandes

Latest from Your Site News' Kaveh Solhekol:

Al Hilal are not guaranteed to make another move for Bruno Fernandes next summer, especially because the club is about to be bought by billionaire investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

Al Hilal are currently majority owned by the Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabias sovereign wealth fund.

Prince Alwaleeds takeover, which could value the club at up to 2 billion Saudi Riyals (397.2m), would see one of Saudi Arabias biggest clubs being privately owned for the first time.

In a Portuguese TV interview released on Monday night, Fernandes said he believes United were happy to sell him to Al Hilal last summer. He decided against making the move after talks with his family.

Speaking at the time, he said he wanted to continue playing at the highest level: Manchester United said they didnt want to sell me. They said if I wanted to go, I could, but they didnt need the money.

Uniteds senior executives were clear throughout the summer that Fernandes was a key part of their future plans. They do not want to sell him now and he has a contract until the summer of 2027, with the option of a further year.

Al Hilal are expected to spend big under new ownership in the summer but Fernandes will be 32 in September and Saudi clubs have been targeting younger players.

Al Hilal were close to agreeing a deal to sign Fernandes in a deal last summer which they believe would have been in the best interests of all parties.

They signed Darwin Nunez from Liverpool for 46m two months later.

Pep rules out January move for Trafford

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

James Trafford will not be leaving Manchester City in January, Pep Guardiola has confirmed, despite the goalkeeper becoming unsettled just months into his Etihad return.

Guardiola says the "incredible" 'keeper will stay for the rest of the season - despite being behind first-choice Gianluigi Donnarumma for selection between the sticks.

City are instead understood to be open to allowing Stefan Ortega to leave, who along with Marcus Bettinelli, Donnarumma and Trafford completes the senior goalkeeping department.

Your Site News understands Trafford was of the impression he would be first choice if Ederson departed City in the summer, when he returned to the club from Burnley.

Trafford started the first three Premier League games of the campaign as Ederson's move to Fenerbahce became increasingly likely - but Trafford has not appeared in the Premier League since Donnarumma was signed from PSG on Deadline Day.

Trafford has made just three further appearances in the Champions League and Carabao Cup and is hoping to be part of Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the World Cup - but a place is not assured while he is sitting on the bench.

Ortega, who had been linked with a move to Burnley to replace Trafford in the summer, is much more likely to depart the Etihad after more than 50 appearances for the club since 2022.

Asked about Trafford's situation, Guardiola said:"He is an incredible keeper. Unfortunately, [Donnarumma], is the first keeper.

"I know the position of keeper is so special. During the year, in one game you can change, but the keeper is special. Of course, [Trafford] is with us. He will be with us this season. After we will see what happens."

Asked if he stays in January, Guardiola confirmed: "Absolutely. I don't have any news about that, regarding him. [He] stays here."

Fernandes: Man Utd bosses 'wanted me to go' but lacked courage to defy Amorim

Bruno Fernandes has claimed Manchester United bosses wanted to cash in on him in the summer but lacked the courage to defy Ruben Amorim.

The United captain, who could have joined Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal for 100m, said he was "hurt" and "sad" about how the situation had been handled in an interview with Portuguese TV station Canal 11.

Your Site Newsunderstands the club's leadership were clear with Fernandes throughout the summer - and remain adamant - that he is part of their plans and they have no desire to sell him.

that United's hierarchy told him they would not stand in his way if he wished to leave but that they wanted to keep him.

Man Utd firmly in the race for Semenyo amid rival City interest

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas and Rob Dorsett:

Manchester United and Manchester City are firmly in the race to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.

Semenyo has a 65m release clause in his contract which becomes active on January 1 and the forward is attracting interest from a number of top Premier League clubs.

City are keeping close tabs on developments with the 25-year-old, with Tottenham keen and some insiders believe Pep Guardiola's side are now the strongest contenders for his signature.

United are considered serious rivals for both City and Spurs, however, with Liverpool believed to still be in the background.

United have not been actively looking to sign another forward in January but believe the opportunity to sign Semenyo which will come next month and for a set price is something they must genuinely consider.

Semenyo, who has scored 29 goals in over 100 appearances for Bournemouth, has been of long-term interest to the bosses at Old Trafford,Your Site Newshas been told.

The biggest obstacle for United is financial, though. Whilst they are not currently at risk of breaching the PSR regulations, a 65m fee could have serious repercussions on what they can afford to spend in the summer, where a defensive-midfielder is the absolute priority.

They are reluctant to get involved in a bidding war for Semenyo with some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and will not jeopardise their ability to strengthen the midfield next summer in favour of another attacker.

Man Utd 'to reject' January bids for Mainoo

Manchester United intend to reject any bids to buy Kobbie Mainoo in January because the hierarchy believe he could have a bright future at the club, according to The Guardian.

Ruben Amorim is open to the 20-year-old going on loan after not naming him in a Premier League starting XI all season.

Mainoo's half-brother,  at Old Trafford during .

But the view within the hierarchy is that Mainoos youth and potential mean his ceiling remains high and that he could convince Amorim or a future United head coach he is worth a regular place.
